Chelsea have been beaten at the hands of Flamengo after throwing away a one-goal lead at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
The Brazilians looked promising early on but it was the Blues who took an early lead in Pennsylvania. Pedro Neto, just as he did in Atlanta earlier in the week, opened the scoring for the west Londoners with a calm finish.
Chelsea seemed fairly comfortable going into the half-time break but were left stunned in the second period. Bruno Henrique levelled the match after some lapse defending from the Blues, just minutes before Danilo put Flamengo ahead.
Nicolas Jackson, just four minutes after coming off the bench, produced a horror tackle on Ayrton Lucas and was shown a straight red card to make things even worse for Chelsea. Flamengo then made it 3-1 not too long after with substitute Wallace Yan making the Blues pay.
It finished 3-1 in Philadelphia, leaving Chelsea with work to do against Esperance next week. Below, Bobby Vincent rates the Chelsea players who featured out of 10.
Robert Sanchez - 5
Two poor kicks in the space of a minute in the opening few minutes. Made a good save in the second-half, though, to put his rating up a bit.
Malo Gusto - 4
Back in the side. Had a shot from around 35 yards in the first-half which was not the worst effort in the world. Thought he was doing okay but then he got caught out at the far post for Henrique's goal.
Trevoh Chalobah - 5
Returned to the side. Passed it well while also dealing with a few crosses that came his way.
Levi Colwill - 5
A fantastic goal-line clearance just before half-time. Really clever defending to read the situation and get back on the line. Ball-watching a bit for the first Flamengo goal.
Marc Cucurella - 6
Aggressive as ever. Never looks tired, which is one of the nicest compliments you can pay a footballer.
Moises Caicedo - 6
Fantastic and crucial interception on Luiz Araujo early on. Did really well in the first-half but perhaps tired a bit in the second period.
Reece James - 4
Started in midfield. Not the classy James performance we are so used to seeing. Sloppy passes at times gifted the Brazilians possession, including a golden opportunity on 54 minutes that he was very fortunate to get away with it.
Enzo Fernandez - 5
Played a fine through ball to set Delap off early in the game - and was unlucky not to have an assist. Could not get too involved in advanced positions.
Cole Palmer - 4
Started on the right wing. Unfortunately, he could not get involved in the game anywhere near as much as he would have liked. Very quiet.
Pedro Neto - 7
Did so, so well for his goal. Yes, it was a mistake by Flamengo, but he had so much to do. The Portuguese has started this competition in tremendous fashion.
Liam Delap - 5
Had a good chance early on but never really looked as if he was going to score. Some positive hold-up play and link-ups with his new teammates.
Nicolas Jackson (on for Delap 64') - 0
Not sure I've ever given a zero but he deserves it. Was on the pitch for less than five minutes before a ridiculous challenge saw him sent off. Oh, and he lost his man for the second goal.
Romeo Lavia (on for James 64') - 6
Did fine. He came on at 1-1 and when it went to 2-1, Enzo Maresca may have been wishing he'd brought a more attacking player on like Andrey Santos.
Marc Guiu (on for Fernandez 82') - N/A
Nice to know he exists.
Noni Madueke (on for Palmer 82') - N/A
Couldn't get involved.
