Spurs find themselves in danger of being overtaken by more teams in the bottom half of the Premier League table after Wolverhampton Wanders beat them 4-2 - and while manager Ange Postecoglou is likely to remain until the end of the season, some fans in the football.london are calling for action now to change the club's fortunes in the remaining weeks of the calendar.
, topping up their first-half haul with an own goal marked up to Djed Spence, owing to Guglielmo Vicario knocking it into his teammate. Two more goals came in the second half, though there was little that Vicario could have done to prevent those. Mathys Tel and Richarlison would claw two back for the visitors.
Hopes for a bright spot in the season now rest on a the return trip to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League. , Postecoglou said: "Yeah, 100 per cent confidence. Obviously we made some individual errors today which was a bit unusual for us, fair to say. They all happened in one game and unfortunately we got punished from it.
"The goals we conceded weren't lapses, they were just individual errors which, like I said, is unusual for us to give goals away like that. But that's what happened, we got punished today and it makes it very difficult to get an outcome."
The divide between the "Ange Ins" and the "Ange Outs" only seems to be growing during the run-in. Reader Usfan says: "Players have lost confidence in their manager and themselves. Ange has got to go, along with his high line. He has no strategic flexibility, no adaptability with how to play different opponents under different circumstances.
"By letting him go immediately, the team would have a remote chance to advance in Europe. With him we stand no chance at all, because instead of playing a careful, defense oriented, smart game in Germany, he will force the team to play as usual, meaning this stupid style of his that has no room in the Premier League. Ange, do us all a favour and do a decent thing - resign."
Commenter Jeffc00p agrees: "I really can't believe that there will still be 'Ange In' supporters here. That was an absolutely shocking display from a bunch of players who clearly couldn't care less about the shirt and much less about the manager.
"There's absolutely no way this team are going to beat Eintracht Frankfurt on their own ground - in fact I'll be amazed if they manage to last the 1st 10 minutes without conceding a goal. As another person noted we are only 2 points off being the 4th worst team in the PL - that's totally down to Ange and his abandonment of any defensive responsibilities in his style of play whatsoever.
"The last thing I want to do is to change managers yet again - god knows Levy has gone through more than enough already during his vain inglorious reign, but Ange just doesn't cut it!"
Others are sticking to their guns and saying that the circumstances have dictated how much of the season has and will go. Marlon1 writes: "I’m not saying it’s acceptable but the focus has clearly been on Europa since the injured players have returned and these players are mentally weak as it is. I bet Ange was as disgusted as anyone else.
"If we see that level on Thursday night then by all means go in on Ange, but I honestly don’t understand the point of this level of criticism before a massive massive game in a tournament that we could still win, despite being in awful general form."
LXI_Martin says: "Managing a club like Spurs is not a one-person show, and I think that the new CEO this summer will make a difference. I also hope that in the summer we review the back-room staff and Ange's assistant coaches, to give him higher standard of support. We've changed managers often enough. I think the CEO appointment shows that we are beginning to understand the more deep-seated problems."
Have your say! How would you prepare and play against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday? .
